Ouch! Getafe Star Alexis Ruano Subbed Off With Injured Testicle vs Barcelona

Defender takes one for the team.

There was a lot of talk over Neymar’s ankle injury sustained in the Copa Del Rey clash between Getafe and Barcelona this week, but there was one player who suffered an even greater problem at the end of the game.

Getafe defender Alexis Ruano was forced off midway through the first half of the game with the crowd seemingly unaware to what had actually happened to him.

However, it later emerged that he had broken the veins in one of his testicles.

After the final whistle Getafe coach Luis Garcia filled press and fans in on the problem.

“Alexis has a testicle like this,” he told reporters while gesturing the size of a handball.

“Some veins were broken. When I entered the changing room, I was scared, but it’s not serious.

“I’ve never seen anything like it.”

It is unsure as to how long he will be out for, but Blackburn Rovers fans may remember a similar injury being sustained by defender Scott Dann in 2011, but he assured fans that it is an injury that sounds worse than it actually is.
