Manchester United Dealt Major Blow as Target Koke Signs New Atletico Madrid Deal

Spain international agrees new deal at Vincente Calderon.

Manchester United have been dealt another blow in the transfer market after Atletico Madrid playmaker Koke agreed a new deal at the Vincente Calderon.

The 22-year-old was joined by Oliver and Manquiilo in a hat-rick of new deals for Diego Simeone’s side, according to Spanish daily Marca.

United were reportedly willing to pay Koke’s €24m release clause and interest from Old Trafford persuaded Atletico to renegotiate the Spain international’s deal.

Along with Diego Costa, versatile forward Koke has been the shining light in Atetico’s La Liga title charge, scoring four goals and providing eight assists in 19 appearances so far.

United boss David Moyes tried and failed to sign three creative midfielders in the summer, with Cesc Fabregas, Thiago Alcantara and Ander Herrera all in the Scot’s sights, before the deadline day arrival of Marouane Fellaini.

Moyes had reportedly identified Koke as a player capable of adding much-needed creativity to United’s midfield.
