Top Ten Most Likely January Transfer Window Premier League Signings

10 deals that we feel are highly likely to occur this month.

10. Joleon Lescott: Man City to West Ham

West Ham were reported to have agreed a deal to sign Man City defender Joleon Lescott according to the Sunday Telegraph but as yet the deal is still to be sealed.

Sam Allardyce is looking to strengthen his defence and the Hammers have seemingly agreed to deal to bring in England international Lescott ahead of his contract at the Etihad Stadium side coming to an end in the summer, with the East London side willing to foot the centre-back’s £90k a week wages.

Lescott was apparently ready to pen a three and a half year deal with West Ham and Allardyce will hope the presence of the hugely experienced defender will resolve his side’s penchant for conceding goals at an alarming rate and it’s a deal we can certainly see happen this month.

9. Mirko Vucinic: Juventus to Tottenham

Roberto Soldado can only seem to score when offered a penalty and Erik Lamela has turned out to be an even bigger flop therefore one imagines Tim Sherwood would like another striker though chairman Daniel Levy isn’t likely to offer a huge sum for such a move.

Therefore experienced Montenegrin Vucinic could be a solution in January. The Juventus man has seen his first team chances limited by the arrivals of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente.

8. Leighton Baines: Everton to Man United

Yes David Moyes has failed with bids before but the situation remains the same, the Scot needs a viable replacement for Patrice Evra and it’s clear that Alexander Buttner is not the man for the job.

Roberto Martinez saw Costa Rican Bryan Oviedo work well in place of Baines when the England man was out injured, perhaps this was the motivation needed for the Toffees to accept a third, increased, bid from the Old Trafford side.

7. Luke Shaw: Southampton to Chelsea

Teenager is apparently a Chelsea fan, Jose Mourinho needs a long term replacement for Ashley Cole so this deal may well hold water.

Southampton may not be looking to sell such a talented player but have of course in the past opted to cash in on the likes of Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The Saints want £20m for the 18 year old, will that be an obstacle to a Roman Abramovich bid?

6. Juan Mata: Chelsea to PSG

Livid with being subbed against Southampton there is every chance that Jose Mourinho will accept a big money offer for a player he clearly values below the likes of Eden Hazard and Oscar.

PSG have money to make just such a bid and the 25 year old Spaniard knows that first team football is key to his hope of retaining a prominent role in Vicente del Bosque’s 2014 World Cup finals squad.

However Laurent Blanc has an abundance of creative midfielders, is there a danger of swapping one bench for another?

5. Ravel Morrison: West Ham to Fulham

England Under 21 international Ravel Morrison wants to leave West Ham this month and Fulham are leading the chase to sign the talented midfielder according to the Daily Mail.

The Hammers are keen to keep hold of Morrison but the 20 year old has no intention of signing a contract extension, with his current deal having 18 months to run.

Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen, who worked with Morrison at Man United, will look to tempt the Upton Park star to make the move from East to West London and is ready to make an opening offer of £5m for the player.

Should the Craven Cottage side up their bid they may end up landing the Hammers youngster.

4. Fabio Coentrao: Real Madrid to Man United

Man United have reportedly agreed terms with Real Madrid on a deal that would see wing-back Fabio Coentrao move to Old Trafford on an initial loan spell according to the Daily Express.

Boss David Moyes attempted to sign the 25 year old last summer but a deadline day deal faltered though it seems the Premier League side have been more successful in their approach for the Portuguese international this time around.

The former Benfica man has started just four La Liga fixtures this season and will apparently move to Man United on a six month deal which could lead to a permanent move in the summer, with veteran French international Patrice Evra expected to leave the club at the end of the season when his current contract comes to a close.

Carlo Ancelotti clearly sees Brazilian Marcelo as his first choice left-back now and as such can afford to allow Coentrao move to Man United.

Coentrao will hope to secure some much needed first team football ahead of the 2014 World Cup finals and a move to Man United does seem on the cards.

3. Rickie Lambert: Southampton to West Ham

West Ham’s desperate push to bring in a fresh attacking option has led Sam Allardyce to mount an £8m bid for Southampton striker Rickie Lambert according to the Daily Mirror.

The Hammers boss have finally welcomed back Andy Carroll but certainly need alternative goal-scoring options.

West Ham are apparently confident they can convince England international Lambert to leave high flying Southampton to move to East London, despite the club’s current lowly position in the Premier League table.

2. Alvaro Morata: Real Madrid to Arsenal

Arsene Wenger was desperately searching for a fresh attacking option prior to injuries to Olivier Giroud, Nicklas Bendtner and Theo Walcott so the Gunners boss must now be chomping at the bit to land a striker this month and Real Madrid youngster Alvaro Morata may be an ideal target.

The fact that when fully fit Arsenal have a wealth of attacking potential may well lead Wenger to believe a loan capture of Spanish Under 21 international Morata makes a great deal of sense and Carlo Ancelotti may well see the benefit of sending out the lethal finisher to help complete his footballing education at the Emirates Stadium.

1. Julian Draxler: Schalke to Arsenal

The 20 year old German international, who is said to have a €45m (£37.4m) release clause, has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium but perhaps the addition of experienced star Podolski will help to secure a deal to bring Draxler to the Emirates Stadium?

Arsene Wenger has apparently set his sights on Draxler and the in-demand youngster has apparently reached a verbal agreement with the North London club.

Interest in Draxler may well have been increased by the injury suffered by England man Theo Walcott, with the Bundesliga starlet very able to push forwards and support the attack.

It’s a move that we certainly see as likely this month.
