10) Romelu Lukaku (Everton): 3.1 Shots Per Game (SPG)

The on-loan striker from Chelsea has once again been in blistering form in front of goal at Goodison Park so far this season, with the Belgium international managing to find the back of the net on nine occasions so far in total in just his 18 league outings for the Toffees, and with over three shots per game attempted in the Premier League, now you can see why.

9) Loic Remy (Newcastle United): 3.2 SPG

The France international has surprised many with just how prolific he has been for the in-form north-east outfit following the striker’s season-long loan move to St James’ Park from Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers last summer, but when you attempt 3.2 efforts on the opposition goal every game, then you can understand why the 27-year-old has already netted 11 times in the Premier League to date.

8) Wayne Rooney (Manchester United): 3.2 SPG

Nine strikes in his 17 top-flight outings for the Premier League champions is a fair return so far from the England international, a forward who let’s face it, has never been afraid to shoot on goal during his career, with Rooney attempting on average 3.2 efforts per Premier League match for the Red Devils.

7) Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur): 3.3 SPG

For a player with just the one Premier League goal all campaign long in his 14 appearances to date for the north London club, the England wide man sure is shooting a lot though, with the 22-year-old attempting 3.3 shots per league game for Spurs. And so either the opposition keepers are having the game of their lives, or Townsend’s shooting is not as accurate as his crossing has been this season.

6) Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle United): 3.3 SPG

Another rare entry from a non-striker, with the Magpies’ mercurial France international playmaker currently enjoying yet another eye-catching campaign in the middle of the park for the high-flying Geordies, with the 28-year-old’s form one of the main reasons behind their success so far, with Cabaye having registered seven league goals from his 3.3 shots per game in the top flight.

5) Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool): 3.4 SPG

Eleven Premier League strikes in just 14 top-flight encounters is a great return for the injury-hit Reds marksman, and anyone who has watched the 24-year-old in action on a regular basis will know that the one thing that Sturridge is not afraid to do is shoot on goal, as his 3.4 efforts per game demonstrate this season.

4) Olivier Giroud (Arsenal): 3.5 SPG

The France international has been leading the line with aplomb at the Emirates in this campaign, with the forward’s nine Premier League goals going a long way towards establishing the Gunners as the best team in the top flight, but with 3.5 shots on goal in every league match the 27-year-old has played in to date, you may have expected a better overall goals return though from the player.

3) Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool): 3.7 SPG

The Merseysiders’ impish midfield creator may be another surprise entry in this top ten, especially so high up the final list for a non-striker, but again, anyone who has kept a close eye on the 21-year-old since he first moved to Anfield from Inter Milan for £8.5m this time last year will have recognised the playmaker’s propensity to unleash an effort on goal no matter the distance, angle or game situation, a fact backed up by his average of 3.7 shots per game in the Premier League in this campaign.

2) Sergio Aguero (Manchester City): 4.1 SPG

With an impressive 14 goals in only 16 Premier League outings to date, the diminutive Argentinian has been one of the undoubted stars of the Premier League season, with opposition managers no doubt warning their defenders to above all stop the 25-year-old from shooting on goal.

However, that advice does not appear to have been heeded if the front man’s average of over four efforts per game in the top flight to date is anything to go by.

1) Luis Suarez (Liverpool): 5.6 SPG

While the identity of the player with the highest average of shots per game in the Premier League so far this season is no great surprise, especially considering the sensational campaign in front of goal that the 26-year-old is currently enjoying in the top flight, where the Uruguayan is the top scorer at present, what is surprising is just how how many efforts per game Suarez is attempting.

In fact, the attacker is almost having two shots per game more than his closest challenger Aguero, which may ultimately explain why the marksman has netted a sensational 22 times already in just 17 league matches for the Merseyside giants this season.
