Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco)

The west London club have been struggling all season long when it comes to the task of putting the ball in the back of the net, with the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba all at one point or another failing to convince in front of goal.

And that has led to the Blues’ head coach Jose Mourinho scouring the market for a proven goalscorer, with the name of Monaco’s prolific Colombia international understood to be top of the self-styled Special One’s wish list according to the Daily Express.

And with the Portuguese and Falcao both sharing the same representative, super-agent Jorge Mendes, then a big-money deal could very well take place this month.

Eliaquim Mangala (FC Porto)

Another area of the team that Mourino is said to be keen to add more strength to in this month’s transfer window looking ahead to the second half of the campaign is at the heart of the club’s back four, especially with Brazil international David Luiz expected to leave Stamford Bridge at some point in the near future.

And the defender that Mourinho wants to take over from the shaggy-haired South American is Porto’s in-demand France international, reports the Daily Star.

However, not only is the 22-year-old also wanted by both Manchester United and Manchester City this month, but the player also has a whopping £32m buyout clause written into his current deal with the Portuguese champions.

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)

The highly rated England international’s future at Old Trafford is in some doubt at present, especially with the forward’s current deal with the Premier League champions set to run out in just 18 months time.

And that has put Chelsea boss Mourinho on high alert, with the Portuguese hoping to be able to persuade the Red Devils to offload the player in the current January transfer window for a cut-price fee, rather than risk losing the attacker for nothing on a Bosman-style free transfer in June 2015, claims the Guardian.

However, there still remains the obvious and imposing hurdle of United being reluctant to do business with their arch rivals from Stamford Bridge.

Luke Shaw (Southampton)

The Blues remain absolutely determined to lure the promising England Under-21 international away from the south coast club in this month’s transfer window says the Daily Star, and that resolve has apparently only been hardened in recent days in light of the turmoil that has enveloped St Mary’s of late.

The west Londoners are in urgent need of a successor to their veteran left-back Ashley Cole, with the England international having largely been frozen out of the first-team picture at Stamford Bridge for much of this campaign.

And now it is believed that Mourinho is lining up a big-money £30m move for the young Englishman to finally resolve his long-running problem at left back going forward.

Kurt Zouma (St Etienne)

The Uefa Europa League holders will finally compete their much-anticipated move for St Etienne’s in-demand centre-back by the end of the week, claims the Daily Express.

The Blues have been chasing the 19-year-old for some time now, however, the club now appear to have won the race for the France U21 international ahead of title rivals Manchester City.

And Zouma should be unveiled in the capital in time to feature in Chelsea’s next fixture.
