Emirates Stadium side identify German international as number one transfer target.
Arsenal have reportedly identified Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng as their number one January transfer window target according to Sports Direct News.
Arsene Wenger has earmarked a move for 25 year old Boateng as he seeks to strengthen his defence with a bid for the adaptable German international.
However it may prove very tough to tempt Boateng to leave the Allianz Arena given the level of success the former Man City man has attained at the Bavarian club.
Boateng is a regular under Pep Guardiola, starting 14 of the club’s 17 Bundesliga fixtures, and last term racked up 38 starts in all competitions as Bayern Munich completed a treble of top titles.
Wenger will no doubt be attracted by the fact that Boateng can play across the defence and is very comfortable in a right-back slot where the Gunners boss may well see the powerful defender as a long term replacement for veteran Bacary Sagna who could well be leaving the Emirates Stadium when his contract comes to an end in the summer.
Prior to his move back to Germany Boateng spent one season at the Etihad Stadium before Man City sold the Berlin born talent to Bayern Munich in a £10m deal back in July 2011.
