Arsenal to Sign £45m Trio In Final 36 Hours of the January Transfer Window

Arsene Wenger closing in on deals to bring in top additions to boost his Emirates Stadium squad.

Arsenal are reportedly closing on on a trio of deals as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in last minute additions before the transfer window slams shut on Friday night.

The Metro claims that the North London club are closing on a £33m deal to bring in German international Julian Draxler

This source claims a move could be agreed within 48 hours with Schalke ready to accept a fee less than the 20 year old’s £37m release clause with Arsenal then set to loan back Draxler for the rest of the current campaign.

Though Arsene Wenger has set his sights firmly on Draxler he may feel he can afford to wait until the summer to welcome him to Arsenal and as such is happy to agree to Schalke’s demands.

Draxler had an outstanding season last term, scoring 13 goals in all competitions, and has continued to mature into a hugely effective attacking midfielder during the current campaign and is a player who Schalke are keen to avoid losing to a domestic rival, with both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund said to be interested in the player.

Draxler could well be set to join compatriots Ozil, Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker at the Emirates Stadium club.

Goal.com state that Arsenal are also in advanced talks to bring in PSG battler Blaise Matuidi as Wenger seeks to bring in an extra defensively minded midfielder to offer him some added steel in the centre of the park.

The need to bring in a player of Matuidi’s talents has been heightened following the four match ban handed to Mathieu Flamini following his red card against Southampton on Tuesday night and though the Parc des Princes tough tackler is out of contract in the summer the Gunners are ready to offer a significant fee this month in an attempt to persuade Laurent Blanc to sell the player before the transfer window slams shut.

The fact that PSG have just purchased Yohan Cabaye from Newcastle United may also play in Arsenal’s favour and a move to the Emirates Stadium may tempt Matuidi.

Wenger is also without Aaron Ramsey for up to six weeks and Jack Wilshere is suffering with an ankle issue that will keep him out of upcoming fixtures, bringing to light just how light Arsenal are on options in the centre of the park.

PSG may be open to a decent offer for Matuidi considering they face the very real possibility of losing the player on a free transfer at the end of the season and Arsenal are said to be willing to fork out as much as £10m for the former Saint-Etienne man.

Inside Futbol claim that the Emirates Stadium side are also set to bring in Juventus forward Mirko Vucinic on a loan deal with a medical set to occur today.

Arsene Wenger is to welcome in the Juventus striker on a loan deal to help strengthen his attacking options for the rest of the current campaign with the Montenegro international due to have a medical at the North London club today.

The 30 year old forward had looked close to securing a move to Inter Milan as part of a swap deal that would have seen Colombian Fredy Guarin move in the opposite direction but the deal stalled and Vucinic is still looking for a move away from his Turin side in search of regular first team football.

Vucinic finished last season as Juventus’s joint top scorer in Serie A action, scoring 14 goals in all competitions, but the arrival of Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente, from Man City and Athletic Bilbao respectively, last summer have severely restricted his involvement in Antonio Conte’s plans.

The former AS Roma man has started just four Serie A matches this term and is seen by Wenger as a replacement for injured England man Theo Walcott and a marksman who can ably support Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski and Nicklas Bendtner in the Arsenal attack.

The loan move is set to cost Arsenal in the region of £2m.
