Blues boss Jose Mourinho is ready to sell talented 21 year old Courtois to Atletico Madrid on a permanent basis, having spent three loan seasons at the Vicente Calderon side, and will then look to experienced French international Mandanda as the man to challenge Petr Cech for the starting spot at Stamford Bridge.
Mandanda is not a keeper who is used to playing second fiddle and one wonders if the 28 year old Zaire born star will be happy to warm the bench at the West London club though he could perhaps have the confidence to unseat Cech, a feat that will be hard to pull off given the Czech Republic international’s consistent displays.
Steve Mandanda has spent six and a half seasons as a virtual ever present at the Stade Velodrome, making 250 appearances for Marseille and earning himself 16 French national team caps.
Didier Deschamps is certain to select Mandanda as part of his 2014 World Cup finals squad.
