Ten Deadline Day Deals That Could be Completed Today

Ten big deals that could still go through on transfer deadline day.

Lewis Holtby – Tottenham Hotspur to Fulham

One of the most surprising deals to be mooted for deadline day sees the German international heading to Craven Cottage on a season long loan.

Unable to break into the Spurs first team under both Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood and he has now apparently spurned the chance to return to the Bundesliga in favour of a prolonged stay in the Premier League to prove himself.

Should help an ailing Fulham side and the deal is likely to be completed before the deadline.

Kurt Zouma – St Etienne to Chelsea

The young defender is one of the most widely sought after players in Europe right now and lucky Chelsea reportedly have the jump on his signature.

Dubbed as the ‘new John Terry’, he will be brought in to replace the veteran England stopper, but will likely be loaned back to his current club for the rest  of the campaign.

Yevhen Konoplyanka – Dnipro to Liverpool

The Ukrainian has emerged as a late target for Reds boss Brendan Rodgers and though an initial £16m bid was accepted, Dnipro are keen to hold out in the hope that interest from elsewhere will spark a bidding war for his signature.

Rodgers will be hoping to fend off that interest, though, as his injury ridden midfield is in need of a boost.

Dimitar Berbatov – Fulham to Spurs

Spurs have been linked with a surprise return for their former striker since the transfer window opened, and it may still be pushed through before the 11pm deadline tonight.

It is unsure as to whether it will be included as part of the deal that sees Lewis Holtby head the other way, but it wouldn’t be thought to cost the north Londoners little more than £2m.

Julian Draxler – Schalke to Arsenal

The young German international has been a long time target of the Gunners and an on-again-off-again move has been tipped to go through before the window closed.

However, there remains a certain amount of smoke surrounding the deal, and though Wenger has admitted to wanting another player in it is unsure if the Bundesliga side are still willing to sell.

Clement Grenier – Lyon to Newcastle

With the crushing loss of Yohann Cabaye on Thursday, the Magpies will desperately be searching for a replacement for the France international as soon as possible.

And what better way to replace one with another? Pardew has set his sights on a move for the former Arsenal target and will hope to bring him on board with just a few hours of the window left to run.

Davide Astori – Cagliari to Manchester United

Manager David Moyes went to Italy to scout the centre-back earlier in the month and has reportedly identified him as the ideal replacement for either Rio Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic.

However, there have been a number of fellow Premier League sides interested in striking a deal for thew 27-year-old, but United are thought to have the upper hand.

Joleon Lescott – Manchester City to West Ham United

Earlier in the week the 31-year-old claimed that he would be staying in Manchester to see out the remaining six months of his current deal. However, this is a World Cup year, and with a place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad up for grabs he could be tempted to make a last minute switch.

The Hammers have been the side most recently linked with taking him off their hands as they desperately search for new blood to bolster their relegation battle.

Tom Ince – Blackpool to Crystal Palace

The young Blackpool winger has been linked with a plethoras of clubs this month and could finally have found a new home at Crystal Palace.

The Seasiders have allowed him to wind down the final months of his contract in the top flight and though he was pictured at Stoke’s training ground on Tuesday it now seems that Selhurst Park is his most likely destination.

Mirko Vucinic – Juventus to Arsenal

Will he, won’t he? It looks as though this deal is not dead in the water as first feared and the Gunners may finally have a solution to their attacking problems.

The Montenegrin saw a deal to move to Inter Milan scuppered, and though Arsenal may be his second choice he has told Juventus that he doesn’t want to stay and will look to push through a move before the transfer deadline later tonight.
