White Hart Lane side fail with Stamford Bridge raid.
Tottenham attempted a late deadline day bid to sign Chelsea striker Demba Ba according to Sports Direct News.
The move came after the White Hart Lane side had failed in his efforts to sign former player Dimitar Berbatov, a move that was apparently sanctioned by the club’s board but not one that boss Tim Sherwood was all that interested in.
The Bulgarian instead opted to join Ligue 1 side AS Monaco but Tottenham failed to bring in Blues forward Ba, who has been something of a bit-part player at Stamford Bridge this season.
The former Newcastle United man has started just two Premier League fixtures this season and may have been tempted by a move to North London where Sherwood could well do with striking reinforcements.
Summer signings Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela have both failed to impress and Jermain Defoe is set to make an MLS switch in a matter of weeks.
Luckily Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor has been in excellent form, scoring six goals in his last nine starts, and Sherwood will hope that his side manages to keep up their push for a top four finish.
