Liverpool’s proposed transfer for Ukrainian winger Yevhen Konoplyanka wasn’t completed because the Reds failed to transfer the money into Dnipro’s account…

Brendan Rodgers was desperate to bring in another attacker, especially after missing out on prime target Mohamed Salah, who joined Chelsea for £11m.

After missing out on the Egyptian flyer, Liverpool aggressively pursued 24-year-old left-winger Konoplyanka, but fans were left frustrated after a potential deal failed to materialise.

Reports suggested that Dnipro’s chairman Serhiy Doroshenko had refused to sign paperwork confirming the deal, but executive Andriy Rosol has rebuffed these claims…

“We could not sign the documents until we received the money in our account. And they did not send it,” Rosol said, reported by 101greatgoals.

The news will only irritate Liverpool fans, who have watched the club miss out on lucrative deals for Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Diego Costa last summer – and lost out on prime target Mohamed Salah to Chelsea this January.

Manager Brendan Rodger has only teenage prodigy Raheem Sterling and loanee Victor Moses to call upon as natural wide options, and will now have to rely on the pair to provide the side width in the second half of the season, now the transfer window has closed.
