West Brom 1-1 Liverpool: Reds Player ratings, as Cissokho performs well

The French left-back has his best game for the Reds, who failed to capitalise on their rivals slipping up yesterday…

GK) Simon Mignolet – 7

Wasn’t at all at fault for West Brom’s equaliser, and made an incredibly good save from a volley following a West Brom corner. He seems to have recovered his shaky form that dogged him over the Christmas period.

DR) Jon Flanagan – 6

The youngster doesn’t offer an awful lot going forward, but he’s defensively sound. He didn’t make any mistakes today, but the Reds arguably missed Glen Johnson’s attacking prowess up the right.

DC) Kolo Toure – 3

Oh dear… Liverpool were cruising to a crucial away victory until the ageing centre-back gifted the Baggies an equaliser. He needlessly passed the ball across Liverpool’s back four, and Victor Anichebe seized upon it, before scoring into Mignolet’s bottom corner.

DC) Martin Skrtel – 7

The Slovakian centre-back was as solid as ever, and dealt with the physical threat of Anichebe, and the regular Chris Brunt crosses well.

DL) Aly Cissokho – 8

Maybe he is a player?! The Frenchman made consistent probing runs up the left flank, and was defensively solid, too. He got the run of the ball on many an occasion, but in football: you make you’re own luck!

MC) Steven Gerrard – 6

Gerrard was quiet and understated in his holding midfield role, but mopped up loose balls in the centre of the park well.

MC) Jordan Henderson – 7

Typically impressive combative performance from the Englishman… Won possession on countless occasions, and created a platform from which Liverpool’s attackers could create.

MC) Coutinho – 7

The Brazilian playmaker was deployed in a deeper central midfield role again, and played very well. He regularly surged through midfield, and was creatively Liverpool’s best player.

AMR) Raheem Sterling – 8

Top notch, yet again. His pace and directness was a constant menace to the Baggies’ defence, and on this form, he’s probably going to make Roy Hodgson’s England World Cup squad.

AML/FC) Luis Suarez – 7

The brilliant striker failed to add to his 23 Premier League goals this term, but did assist his excellent striker partner Daniel Sturridge for Liverpool’s opener. He did miss a guilt edged chance to put the Reds 2-0 up though, which would have killed the game.

AML/FC) Daniel Sturridge – 6

Sturridge bagged a goal (as per usual) after excellent work from Suarez. Apart from the strike though, he didn’t do much of note. He rotated positions with Suarez between the left win and the striking berth.
