The 28 year old Gunners star has struggled with fitness this term and is perhaps a player boss Arsene Wenger is willing to cash-in on with young Italian Balotelli on his radar.
Podolski had a solid debut season at the North London club, scoring 16 goals and providing 11 assists in all competitions, but has managed just three Premier League starts this term.
The former Bayern Munich man is apparently a player who interests a number of Bundesliga sides including Borussia Dortmund and Schalke, interest that could perhaps tempt Podolski who could feel the time is right to return to his native Germany.
Wenger spent big to land Mesut Ozil last summer and is seemingly ready to spend big to land former Man City man Balotelli, who could well leave the San Siro as AC Milan look unlikely to secure a Champions League berth with the Italian giants needing to balance the books if that does indeed prove the case.
Balotelli has scored 21 goals in 29 Serie A appearances since moving back to Italy in January 2013.
