The Anfield forward is said to have a buyout clause worth £70m which can be triggered if Liverpool do not finish in the top four and Rodgers will look to reinvest those funds if the worst case scenario does indeed come to fruition.
Rodgers has set his sights on Montpellier playmaker Remy Cabella, who is also known to be a Newcastle United target, although clearly not a like for like replacement for Suarez the 23 year old has netted nine goals in 22 Ligue 1 starts this term.
A direct replacement would appear to come in the form of Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, only Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored more Ligue 1 goals than the 22 year old French international, who could well jump at the chance of a move to the Premier League.
Suarez has been in fine form this term though it should be noted that his strike-partner Daniel Sturridge has also been a prolific marksman as well, netting 15 goals in 15 starts so perhaps Rodgers would look to the England man to step-up and become the club’s main attacking weapon.
