Wenger could well do with a more potent striker leading his Gunners attack as far too often Olivier Giroud, for all his efforts, has looked average when coming up against the Premier League’s top defences.
Balotelli has had a rough time of it since moving back to Italy though it’s worth noting that for all his on and off field antics the former Man City man has still been scoring regularly, and that’s all the more impressive given how badly his AC Milan side have fared of late.
The 23 year old has scored 21 goals in 30 Serie A appearances since moving to AC Milan and his side look likely to miss out on a Champions League berth for next term and this may well lead to the San Siro side having to cash-in on the forward to balance the books.
Arsene Wenger is said to have held talks with agent Mino Riola in London earlier this week and Arsenal are apparently ready to meet AC Milan’s very reasonable £25m price-tag.
Giroud is Wenger’s current first choice forward but the Frenchman has struggled in recent months and the likes of Theo Walcott, Lukas Podolski and Nicklas Bendtner have failed to offer genuine support due to concerns about fitness and form.
