The 24 year old has been embroiled in long term contract talks and has recently been dropped to the bench by boss Pep Guardiola and comments made by captain Philipp Lahm have led to growing speculation that the midfielder could leave the Allianz Arena this summer.

Lahm stated;

“It is normal that one explores their position and negotiate,” he told Sport Bild regarding Kroos.

“If you currently play for Bayern there are few alternatives, if any, though.

“It is, in my eyes, an absolute privilege to play here because the team simply has the mentality to win. Many players want to come to Bavaria.

“So you have to think carefully about whether you leave a club like this at the moment.”

Kroos’s current deal comes to a close in just over a year and Bayern Munich know that failure to cash in on the box to box performer will mean his value would steadily decrease in the final 12 months of his contract.

David Moyes could well do with fresh midfield options, not least as the likes of Tom Cleverley and Marouane Fellaini, when fit, hadn’t impressed all that much.

Brazilian Anderson has been farmed out to Fiorentina and Ryan Giggs, who has been used in a more central role in recent seasons, could well hang up his boots this summer.

Kroos had been a regular in Guardiola’s first team set-up for pretty much the entire campaign thus far but the cultured midfielder has been left on the bench in Bayern Munich’s last two Bundesliga fixtures, which must surely be taken as a sign that the player is being punished for his stance during contractual negotiations.
