The brilliant shot stopper’s future at Stamford Bridge has been in doubt for some time now, with many of Europe’s top clubs are said to be lining up waiting to land Courtois this summer.

However, as yet no one knows just what the west London club have planned for the young goalkeeper, who has been in the capital now since July 2011 when Courtois first arrived in the capital from Belgium outfit Genk on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

And yet in the intervening period the 21-year-old has still to play a single minute of competitive action for the west Londoners, who have instead chosen to offload Courtois on a season-long loan  to La Liga side Atletico de Madrid for the past three campaigns in a row.

But with the player’s contract with Chelsea now only running until June 30 2016, the two parties will need to come to a final decision about Courtois’s future shortly, with the custodian said to be unwilling to play second fiddle to Petr Cech at the Bridge next season.
