Chelsea – Three In Three Out: Potential Summer Transfer Window Plans

The players that the Stamford Bridge side should buy and sell this summer.

Three In

Eliaquim Mangala – Porto

The giant Frenchman has become one of the world’s most sought after stars this year thanks to his strong performances with Porto. He has been linked with virtually everyone in the Premier League but Chelsea will be making a special effort to come out on top as they begin their search for someone to take over from where John Terry left off.

Quick, strong, and tactically astute; he would make the perfect replacement for the former skipper, but he wouldn’t come cheap.

Luke Shaw – Southampton

Like Terry, Ashley Cole is also coming to the end of his tenure at Stamford Bridge and with that, the club will also be searching for a new left-back. Cole will be leaving big shoes to fill, but as the Saints have shown in recent years they have a youth academy the whole country is envious of and it’s products have frequently gone on to bigger and better things.

Shaw has the ability, as well as being of the right age, to grow into that role and make it his own for the next 10-15 years. However, like Mangala, he will cost the club a pretty penny if they really want to bring him on board.

Edinson Cavani – Paris Saint Germain

The Uruguayan international is reported to be unhappy in Paris, and is open to the notion of a quick getaway. Chelsea have repeatedly been linked with his signature but earlier this week Jose Mourinho distanced himself from the rumours.

However, Mourinho is aware of who his competitors are, and is too clever to declare an interest that would likely spark those other interested parties into exaction early. Keeping his cards close to his chest would be the wisest thing to do as he knows what an asset the big striker would be for the club.

Three Out

Demba Ba

It’s hard not to feel sorry for Ba, after a prolific season with Newcastle he was snapped up by a bigger and better club that sought to give him an opportunity on a higher plane only to flap and falter and put his career into reverse.

It’s not his fault, he’s simply not good enough to lead the line at Stamford Bridge, and next season the club simply cannot make space for passengers as they will hopefully be defending any number of titles.

Ryan Bertrand

Bretrand is a strange case; he has impressed greatly wherever he has been on loan and even has experience of playing in a Champions League final. However, if he were to stay in west London he would only be used as an understudy to somebody else as it appears that Jose Mourinho does not trust him to be a first team regular.

Currently with Aston Villa until May, he would be a valuable asset to another Premier League side, earning Chelsea a substantial fee, or he could be used in part exchange with somebody for one of their own stars to go the other way.

Marko Marin

Look at him there, with that big bottle of Coke. Who does he think he is?

The German wide man joined the club to much acclaim in 2012 but has since been unable to convince three managers to give him a chance. He has been shipped out on loan to Sevilla this term where he has been steady if unimpressive, and the club will no doubt be looking to move him on in the summer for whatever they can get.
