The brilliant Netherlands international has only been at the Theatre of Dreams now for the past 18 months after controversially opting to leave Arsenal for the Red Devils in August 2012 in a deal worth £24m.
However, it is understood that Van Persie was hugely disappointed when previous United head coach Sir Alex Ferguson suddenly shocked the world of football by announcing his decision to retire from the game at the end of last season, with the legendary Scot said to be the principal reason why the striker opted to turn down an approach from mega-rich Premier League rivals Manchester City in favour of joining United instead, even though the Blues were offering the player far more money to switch to Eastlands.
And now following the disastrous results achieved by the Premier League giants under new boss David Moyes so far in his debut campaign in charge of the club, Van Persie is believed to be unsettled in the north west and pondering his future career options for next season.
