Liverpool Player Ratings, As Luis Suarez Shines In 3-0 Win At Southampton

The 27-year-old sensation registers a goal and an assist…

GK) Simon Mignolet – 7

Kept a rare clean sheet away from home, and made a sharp save from jay Rodriguez in the second half.

DR) Jon Flanagan – 6

Solid defensively, but was occasionally caught out of position by the bombarding Luke Shaw down Southampton’s left.

DC) Martin Skrtel – 7

Skrtel dealt with the aerial threat of Rickie Lambert very well, and made regular interceptions and tackles in his commanding role in Liverpool’s back four.

DC) Daniel Agger – 7

The Dane was vastly improved from last weekend’s horror show against Swansea, and he carried the ball out from defence expertly.

DL) Glen Johnson – 7

Very strong performance from the Englishman. Playing on his unfavoured left hand side, Johnson retained possession for the Reds extremely well.

MC) Steven Gerrard – 7

Composed, clever performance in Liverpool’s midfield. He passed the ball well, but was more important in his defensive contribution – stopping Adam Lallana from playing in the second half. Slotted a late penalty in classy style, too.

MC) Jordan Henderson – 6

Should have sealed the points with a golden chance late on, but did everything expected of him in Liverpool’s midfield. He worked tirelessly, and will have impressed watching England boss Roy Hodgson.

MC) Joe Allen – 6

Neat and tidy, if a little uninspiring from the little Welshman. He did help Liverpool kill the game late on though by slowing down the tempo and keeping the ball.

AMC) Coutinho – 4

Really awful afternoon from the talented Brazilian. Continually gave the ball away, and was deservedly hauled off for Raheem Sterling around the hour mark.

FC) Luis Suarez – 8

A nicely taken goal, and a clever assist from the best player in the Premier League. He;s now scored and assisted ten goals this season.

FC) Daniel Sturridge – 6

For the first time in eight matches, the English forward didn’t score in the Premier League, although his pace consistently stretched the Saints’ defence.

Subs: Raheem Sterling – 7 – Scored with his first touch!
