The Toffees are believed to have sent scouts over to Southern Spain to watch the 26-year-old in action first hand in Sevilla’s recent Uefa Europa League round-of-32 clash with Slovenian outfit Maribor.
Meanwhile, it is also understood that the Reds have been keeping close tabs on the highly rated Argentina international of late as head coach Brendan Rodgers steps up his chase for a new central defender to bring to Anfield next season.
And that is because the Northern Irishman is said to have lost patience with current centre back Daniel Agger after a series of unconvincing displays of late at the heart of the Premier League giants’ back four.
