The Premier League giants are currently endured a troubled campaign both at home and abroad under new head coach David Moyes, so much so that the Scot is now expected to embark on a major rebuilding of the first-team squad at Old Trafford come the summer.
And one of the main areas of the team that the former Everton manager is expected to strengthen is up front, where both Dutchman Robin van Persie and Mexican Javier Hernandez are thought likely to leave the Theatre of Dreams.
However, according to the club’s La Liga scout David Friio, United have been keeping close tabs on Sociedad’s 22-year-old France international, who has clearly impressed with his displays so far this season.
“Griezmann would clearly bring something. His versatility and technique, in a tournament where the gaps are reduced, are real assets,” Friio told French sports daily L’Equipe.
“You can’t score 15 goals in a great league without having real qualities.”
