Stoke City: 10.6 Shots Per Game (SPG)

No one who has watched Mark Hughes’s Potters outfit play this season will be that surprised to find them propping up this table, even if the Welshman has tried to get his new team to play a more expansive game at times.

Fulham: 10.7 SPG

It has been a terrible struggle so far this campaign for the west London club, who have found goalscoring desperately hard all campaign long, as these miserly stats demonstrate to the full.

Cardiff: 10.9 SPG

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have recently replaced Malky Mackay in the Bluebirds dugout, however, the south Wales outfit are still one of the Premier League’s most shot-shy teams.

Crystal Palace: 11.1 SPG

The Eagles may currently be enjoying a huge upturn in fortunes since Tony Pulis replaced previous manager Ian Holloway in the Selhurst Park hot seat, but the south-east London strugglers are still finding it a huge struggle putting the ball in the back of the net though.

West Ham United: 11.3 SPG

Until very recently, the Hammers have been one of the lowest-scoring sides in the entire Premier League in the injury-enforced absence of England front man Andy Carroll, with the east London outfit attempting a miserly 11.3 shots per game in the top flight so far this season.

Aston Villa: 12 SPG

It is no great shock to find Paul Lambert’s strugglers way down in this list, especially given the west Midlands outfit’s problems hitting the target in front of their own fans at Villa Park in this campaign.

Hull City: 12 SPG

There is a reason that Tigers head coach Steve Bruce decided to splash the cash at the KC stadium during the recent January transfer window in order to bring two front men to the north east, with his Hull side having generally failed to test opposition shot stoppers enough in the first half of the season.

Sunderland: 12.2 SPG

Goalscoring has been a major problem for the relegation-threatened Black Cats, although there is no doubt that this side of their game has improved drastically since new manager Gus Poyet arrived at the Stadium of Light to take over from the hapless Paolo Di Canio last year.

West Bromwich Albion: 12.7 SPG

It has been fairly obvious to any neutral observer just what the struggling Baggies’ major issue has been in their disappointing campaign, and that is putting the ball in the back of the net, which the team have just not done enough of on a consistent basis so as to move clear of the drop zone.

Norwich City: 12.9 SPG

If the Canaries do, as now looks increasingly likely, drop down a division come the end of the campaign then manager Chris Hughton will not need any telling whatsoever as to why his side will not be playing Premier League football next season.

Swansea City: 13.5 SPG

Despite the Swans currently struggling near the wrong end of the Premier League table, it is has been their woeful record at the back that has left them fighting relegation this season as opposed to any issues up front.

Manchester United: 14 SPG

Even though the Premier League champions have struggled badly for form for much of this season, it is still nonetheless a major surprise to find their name so far down in this list, given the club’s reputation as the top flight’s most attacking team under previous boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Arsenal: 14 SPG

However, it is even more of a shock to also find the Gunners’ not nearer the top of this chart, especially considering just what a successful campaign that the north London club are currently enjoying in the Premier League.

Southampton: 14.2 SPG

The high-flying Saints have been an absolute joy to watch in this campaign with their easy-on-the-eye football based around attack, with the south-coast outfit having attempted on average an impressive 14.2 shots per game in the Premier League so far this season.

Everton: 15.3 SPG

The Toffees have appeared a team reborn in this campaign under new head coach Roberto Martinez, with the Spaniard, who took over from previous boss David Moyes in the Goodison Park dugout last summer, having introduced a more free-flowing brand of football to Merseyside so far, with the results there for all to see.

Tottenham Hotspur: 15.4 SPG

Ever since Tim Sherwood took over from the sacked Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane before Christmas, the north Londoners have taken on a new attacking dimension, with Emmanuel Adebayor returning from the cold to lead the line, and swiftly finding his form.

Newcastle United: 15.9 SPG

The Magpies love nothing better than to attack opposition teams right from the very off in matches, especially those played at St James’ Park, as these eye-catching statistics prove.

Liverpool: 17 SPG

The only real surprise here really is that Brendan Rodgers’s attack-minded outfit are not occupying one of the two top spots here after the sensational campaign in front of goal that the Merseyside giants have enjoyed to date, with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge top scorers in the division.

Chelsea: 17.4 SPG

In spite of the west London club’s chronic problems with their front men failing to hit the target for much of this campaign, the Blues themselves have been attempting on average a whopping 17.4 shots on goal in every Premier League match so far this season.

Perhaps it is just that the strikers have been missing the target, with Jose Mourinho’s attacking midfield – particularly Eden Hazard – very much on song.

Manchester City: 18.2 SPG

The leaders are none other than Manuel Pellegrini’s mega-rich outfit Man City, who have attempted 18.2 shots per game in the Premier League in this campaign.

The Etihad Stadium outfit are currently fourth in the Premier League, but if they win their two games in hand, they can draw level with Chelsea at the top of the table.

With strikers like Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo, they certainly stand a chance of doing just that.
