This XI could line up for Tottenham today against Chelsea in the Premier League tie at Stamford Bridge…
GK) Hugo Lloris
Lloris is an automatic starter for Spurs when fit, and we don’t expect today to be any different.
DR) Kyle Walker
The Englishman is not at full fitness, but due to the importance of the fixture and the brilliance of Eden Hazard in the Blues lineup, Tim Sherwood will probably feel the need to field his best fullback. Walker though, will have to tame his attacking instincts.
DC) Michael Dawson
Dawson enjoyed a Man of the Match performance last time out against Cardiff, but will likely be in for a far trickier afternoon against Chelsea’s wealth of attackers.
DC) Jan Vertonghen
Vertonghen can play the ball out from the back, but will have to be careful that Samuel Eto’o isn’t given time to shoot in the penalty area.
DL) Kyle Naughton
With first-choice left-back Danny Rose unavailable, Naughton should continue to deputise, likely to be chosen ahead of Ezequiel Fryers.
MC) Sandro
The first of two Brazilians in our Tottenham predicted lineup, Sandro played 17 minutes versus Cardiff last week, and will be fit enough to start today.
MC) Paulinho
With Chelsea so dominant in midfield usually, we reckon Sherwood will deploy three central players, with Brazilian Paulinho used in a dynamic box-to-box role.
MC) Mousa Dembele
Dembele will be charged with winning the midfield battle against the tireless Ramires and the powerful Nemanja Matic, but on his day – even at Stamford Bridge – he’s capable of doing just that.
AMR) Aaron Lennon
Lennon’s direct style down the right flank will provide Spurs’ midfielders with a ‘get-out’ ball, and the Englishman will look to provide good service to Adebayor in the middle.
AML) Christian Eriksen
While Lennon will hug his touchline, Eriksen will act as more of a playmaker, providing defensive duties from the left when Chelsea are in possession, but acting as a central no.10 in attack.
FC) Emmanuel Adebayor
Roberto Soldado scored last time out against Cardiff, but against Chelsea, Sherwood probably has no room for two forwards. There’s no way he’ll drop Adebayor, though.
