Here’s our Premier League team of the week from this round of fixtures, featuring players involved in big wins for Chelsea and Manchester United.

GK) Petr Cech – Chelsea

Cech is making a habit of keeping clean sheets at the moment. The ultra consistent stopper kept Spurs at bay, and looked utterly composed between the sticks.

DR) Branislav Ivanovic – Chelsea

There are probably no better right-backs in the Premier League than the Serbian right now. He was as solid as ever defensively, but still provided a regular attacking option up the flank for the dominant Blues.

DC) Dejan Lovren – Southampton

Lovren’s excellent performance helped the Saints keep a clean sheet against Crystal Palace. The Croatian was booked for a last ditch tackle, but this merely defined his all-action display.

DC) Steven Caulker – Cardiff City

The Englishman bagged twice for Cardiff, to earn them a crucial win in their relegation dogfight. The 3-1 win over Fulham has probably confirmed the Cottagers fate, too.

DL) Patrice Evra – Manchester United

He’s potentially leaving at the end of the season, but this didn’t stop Evra from putting in a lung-busting display all afternoon at the Hawthorns.

AMR) Jay Rodriguez – Southampton

Rodriguez’s winner against Palace was his 11th of the Premier League season, and in current form, he has a great shout of being selected for Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad.

MC) Marouane Fellaini – Manchester United

A much improved performance from the Belgian, who showed more than glimpses of why David Moyes was willing to shell out £27m for his services in the summer. He bossed the centre of the park with his physicality and robust style.

MC) Gary Medel – Cardiff

A very impressive battling performance from the Chilean. It wasn’t pretty, but it got the job done. The Welsh side now sit in 17th, only in the relegation zone on goal difference.

AML) Eden Hazard – Chelsea

Hazard’s brilliance is becoming worryingly consistent for the rest of the Premier League. He works hard and helps his side win back possession, but when he’s given time and space, he’s lethal. He also dispatched his penalty with aplomb.

FC) Wayne Rooney – Manchester United

Creatively exceptional, and scored his 11th goal of the season with a smart back post header. He also linked up very well with Juan Mata in the final third.

FC) Demba Ba – Chelsea

A fantastic cameo from the Senegalese earns him a spot in the team of the week. In just 15 minutes, he scored twice, and showed that he’s more than capable of being a regular starter for a Premier League side.
