For Liverpool to win the title, they need to win nearly all of their remaining matches. In their advantage however is two home ties against title rivals Chelsea and Manchester City during the run in. With Anfield a fortress once more, the Reds could realistically win both these matches, and provided they play well away from home too, it could go right down to the wire.

Here’s the three men we reckon will be the most important during the Reds’ final ten matches…

3) Luis Suarez

It may seem pretty obvious, but with Suarez in the form he’s in right now, it was impossible to even consider leaving him out of this list.

The Uruguayan sensation has notched 24 league goals and registered ten assists, and is a heavy, heavy favourite for the Premier League Player of the Year award. To put it simply, he’s capable of winning matches single-handedly. Not only can Suarez score any type of goal, he can also create chances for his teammates out of nothing. On his day (which he has been for most of the season) he’s the best player in the top flight – and if he starts scoring goals at the rate he was before Christmas, Liverpool are going to win most of their matches.

2) Lucas

Arguably the surprise selection in this list, Lucas hasn’t played since January due to injury, but is set to return to the squad next weekend against Manchester United. In big fixtures, Lucas provides the Liverpool side with an excellent defensive platform. He can tackle, intercept, and keep possession.

While Liverpool have excelled recently in their attacking play, they’ve been conceding goals as well. The return of the Brazilian (possibly at the expense of the far more creative and attacking Coutinho) will help the leaky defence, and give the side a far more solid base from which the excellent forwards can perform.

On top of this, Lucas is known for pulling out big performances against the big sides, and with Liverpool facing United, Chelsea and City in the coming weeks, he’ll no doubt play an essential role.

1) Steven Gerrard

Gerrard’s provided nine Premier League assists so far this season, most of which have come from his brilliant set-piece delivery.

No side in the top flight has scored more goals from dead-ball situations than Rodgers’ men, and this is why we’ve selected the skipper in this top three. With games likely to be tightly poised, Gerrard’s delivery into the box can swing ties in Liverpool’s favour.

He’s also a fantastic leader, and seems to be getting better and better every week in his new adapted deep-lying playmaker role. If he can play his brilliant sprayed deliveries to the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling out wide on regular occasions, Liverpool have the firepower to outscore any side they come up against.
