According to Japanese media outlet Sponichi Annex, the 21-year-old was stretched off during the 3-1 defeat to Reading last Saturday and is unlikely to feature again this season.

The winger, who has made just one Premier League appearance this season from the bench, is out of contract in the summer of 2015 but could be sold at the end of this season after slipping behind the likes Serge Gnabry and Gedion Zelalman in the pecking order.

Ryo is also likely to miss this summer’s World Cup. The former Bolton and Feyenoord loanee has two caps for Japan and had an outside chance of being involved in his country’s 23-man squad prior to the injury.
