David de Gea: 8/10

The Spaniard didn’t put a foot wrong on the night, commanding his area well and keeping United in the tie with a terrific double save at 1-0. If Olympiacos had scored, the hosts would have required four.

Rafael: 7/10

A decent performance from the Brazilian, who ensured that most of the Greeks’ best moves came down United’s left flank.

Patrice Evra: 6/10

The veteran will miss the first leg of the quarter final after picking up a silly second half booking and he was slow tracking back twice in the first half, which led to promising openings. Expect Moyes to upgrade in the summer.

Phil Jones: 7/10

Jones was beaten for pace too easily by Arsenal loanee Joel Campbell on more than one occasion in the first half but he was much improved after the break and won some crucial headers as the visitors piled on the pressure.

Rio Ferdinand: 7/10

An improved performance from the veteran, who was dreadful in the first leg but proved tonight he still has a part to play in the run-in. He is no longer the powerful, graceful defender of a few years ago, however.
