The promising England international has once again found his path to the first team at the Emirates blocked by first-choice right-back Bacary Sagna, although with the France international’s own future with the north London club now in doubt, Jenkinson had been hoping to make the position his own next season.

However, even if as expected the 31-year-old does quit the north Londoners at the end of the campaign, then Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger is still expected to ship the 22-year-old out on a season-long loan next season, with the likes of both West Ham United and Newcastle United understood to be interested in taking the Englishman on.

The Magpies will be in need of a replacement for their France international Mathieu Debuchy, with the right back expected to be leaving St James’ Park this summer in order to join Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, while the Hammers are also known to be currently on the look out for a new right-sided full back.
