The best starting XI made up of current Manchester United and Manchester City players.
GK: Joe Hart – City
Hart may have endured a wobble in form earlier in the season, but he has been solid since recovering and has been the most consistent between him and de Gea for longer.
RB: Pablo Zabaleta – City
The Argentine international has been one of City’s best players this season, and is the clear favourite by a long stretch.
CB: Phil Jones – United
The young Englishman may still be leaning his trade, but he is still a much safer bet than the hapless Martin Demichelis.
CB: Vincent Kompany – City
The City Skipper has seen much more game time than either Vidic or Ferdinand have at United, and when fit he frequently has a big say on how well City play.
LB: Patrice Evra – United
Despite taking a natural decline due to his age, the United full-back has still been in relatively good form this year.
CM: Yaya Toure – City
Toure has been one of the best players in the league this season, and there is no way Fellaini would get into the squad ahead of him.
CM: Fernandinho – City
The Brazilian has been one of the signings of the season, and often operates so that others can perform. A better option that Carrick.
RM: James Milner – City
Milner shades it ahead of Luis Valencia thanks to his dynamism and work rate.
LM: Danny Welbeck – United
Welbeck stretches defences with his languid running and even chips in with his share of goals too.
CAM: David Silva – City
Mata is probably the more complete player, but has been off form this season, whereas Silva has gone from strength to strength.
ST: Wayne Rooney – United
Aguero is the better player, but the Argentine hasn’t had to carry his club almost single handedly through the season. Rooney has.
