The 31-year-old can be considered as somewhat of a journeyman having moved around a fair amount during his career, including a short spell away from Italy with Real Madrid.

Having emerged as one of the most exciting young attacking players in Europe at Roma, he spent two unsuccessful years at the Santiago Bernabeu before heading back to Serie A with Sampdoria, AC Milan and Inter Milan before joining up with Parma.

Despite his past troubles, his form has seem him being called for inclusion into Italy’s World Cup squad this summer, as well as attracting interest from Spurs.

The north London outfit are on the lookout for new attacking players for next season, after the likes of Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela have flopped since big-money moves in last summer’s transfer window.

Cassano has bagged 11 goals and five assists this term, and looks as though he could still display some sort of consistency when given a chance.

“I have heard that (Tottenham Technical Director) Franco Baldini is a fan of his and might move for him this summer,” a White Hart Lane insider revealed. “It might be a risky move, but there’s no doubting his quality at his best,” Roberto Donadoni said.
