5. Yevhen Konoplyanka

Any fool can see that Spurs’ left side has been a weak spot this season, with number 10 Christian Eriksen often forced to play out of position on the flank due to the dearth of decent options. Liverpool nearly signed Ukraine international Konoplyanka in January but Dnipro’s chairman has since said he is in talks with Spurs. The thought of the winger and a in-form Erik Lamela either side of Eriksen is quite a tasty prospect…well, more so than Aaron Lennon and Nacer Chadli…

4. Steven Caulker

Andre Villas-Boas deserved to be sacked simply for selling Caulker and keeping Michael Dawson last summer. While the Spurs captain is clearly a top bloke, he has been cruelly exposed by speedy and skilful strikers far too often this season, while the almost-permanently crocked Younes Kaboul is likely to leave on a free when his contract expires this summer. Spurs desperately need some consistency at centre half next season and Caulker, who has been very impressive in a rubbish Cardiff side, would go some way to providing that if he returned.

3. Christian Benteke

Spurs reportedly wanted to sign the Aston Villa striker before turning to Roberto Soldado last summer. They must now wish they’d stumped up Villa’s £25m asking price rather than opt for the hopeless Spaniard. The Belgian has not hit the same heights this season as he did last term but still boasts nine league goals and he would surely thrive given service from the likes of Eriksen (and Konoplyanka).

2. Bernard

Tottenham were thought to be tracking the Brazil international last summer but he opted for a big-money move to Shakhtar Donetsk . The playmaker has not be an automatic starter for the Ukrainians, however, and there is talk he could move on again in the summer. Chelsea have proven that without a top striker, a trio of talented attacking midfielders can fire a team into the top four, and Spurs could learn from this. Bernard alongside Eriksen would give the club the creativity to challenge at the top again.

1. Daley Blind

With Danny Rose not up to scratch for a club challenging for the top four, and Kyle Naughton not up to scratch for a Sunday League team, Spurs have looked desperately short at left back this season; Netherlands international Blind would solve that. The Ajax star, who can also operate in midfield, has been one of the Eredivisie champions most consistent performers this season and would surely jump at the chance to join former teammates Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen in north London.
