GK: David de Gea

A rock-solid and error-free presence throughout the season for the Red Devils, and the young Spain will need to once again be at the very top of his game against the German champions on Tuesday.

RB: Rafael da Silva

Although Moyes is rumoured to not be a fan of the Brazilian full back, so much so that this is now expected to be his last-ever season at the Theatre of Dreams, he should still get the nod against Bayern, if only due to a lack of creditable alternatives at right back for the Scot to pick.

CB: Phil Jones

While hardly convincing in recent weeks in his more favoured central defensive role, the flexible England international has still done just enough to warrant keeping his place at the heart of United’s back four for what is sure to be the defender’s biggest test since moving to the club.

CB: Rio Ferdinand

In the likely absence of club captain Nemanja Vidic, who has already made it clear that he is leaving United for Inter Milan this summer, the veteran Englishman is now likely to be handed one final chance to remind the home faithful of just what a great centre back he is before he also leaves Old Trafford this summer.

LB: Alexander Buttner

Dutchman will continue to fill in for Patrice Evra, who is suspended, and will hope to put in a solid display against Bayern Munich as he looks to make his case as a possible long term replacement for the Frenchman, who’s contract expires in the summer.

CM: Ryan Giggs

Expect the veteran Welshman to get the nod for this huge encounter based both on his experience in Europe’s premier club competition, and also the way the 40-year-old performed when recalled for United’s 3-0 win over Olympiakos at Old Trafford earlier this month.

CM: Michael Carrick

Another who is set to have a key role to play against the visitors as the holding midfielder stationed in front of United’s back four, where there are sure to be more than a few fires to put out on Tuesday night.

CM: Marouane Fellaini

The £27.5m signing from Everton last summer has endured a torrid debut campaign in the north west, however, that will all be forgotten on Tuesday if the shaggy-haired Belgium international can help his side beat Bayern.

FW: Adnan Januzaj

In the absence of the cup-tied Juan Mata and the injured Robin van Persie,  much will be expected of the the young Belgium wide man against Bayern on Tuesday.

ST:  Wayne Rooney

All eyes will be on the England international, as if United are to cause what would be a big upset at the Theatre of Dreams, then you feel that the front man will need to have one of his best-ever games for the Red Devils.

FW: Danny Welbeck

The all-action Englishman is expected to line up to the right-hand side of Rooney as part of a three-man attack as Moyes looks to travel to the Allianz Arena for the second leg with at least some sort of lead with which to defend,
