Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers will be handed a significant transfer fund war-chest that the Northern Irishman plans to make good use of this summer.

CaughtOffside understands that Rodgers is keen to strengthen his squad as he looks to make the most of his side’s recent ascendancy and knows that he will be able to attract top talents with the carrot of Champions League football all but secured.

Rodgers is well aware that his side lacks strength in depth and believes that if he wants his side to usher in a new era of dominance he will have to spend big to land the talents he wants to make the nucleus of his first team set-up for seasons to come.

Chief among his targets are Southampton pair Adam Lallana and Morgan Schneiderlin, players Brendan Rodgers will look to offer him more midfield options.

25 year old England man Lallana is seen as a long term replacement for Steven Gerrard with the Saints star having the best season of his career to date. French battler Schneiderlin is a player Rodgers hopes will provide more steel in the centre of the park, something he can only really call upon Lucas Leiva to provide at present and the Brazilian has suffered a great deal with injuries over the past 18 months.

Liverpool are ready to offer a combined fee of up to £35m for the duo with there no doubt being a fair few sides tracking a number of Southampton talents after Mauricio Pochettino side’s excellent Premier League campaign.

Lallana’s price-tag may well increase substantially if he makes it into Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup squad, which seems inevitable after a season that has already seen the St Albans born midfielder scored 11 goals and provide half a dozen assists.

Rodgers will look to launch a summer bid for Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka who came close to agreeing a move to the Merseyside club back in January.

Liverpool will up their initial bid to around £17m and are confident of landing the 24 year old Ukrainian international who has already stated his interest in moving to Anfield. Rodgers is looking to bring in further wide attacking options as he is likely to pass on the opportunity to bring in loaned winger Victor Moses on a permanent basis.

Brendan Rodgers has also set his sights on his former Liberty Stadium charge Ashley Williams and is ready to meet Swansea City’s reported £12m valuation of the Welsh international.

Liverpool’s defence has been leaky to say the least and with Kolo Toure unable to provide decent cover for first choice centre-back pair Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel, Rodgers wants Williams to offer an experienced option in front of Simon Mignolet.

Finally Rodgers will once again register his interest in £10m rated Tottenham midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson who he feels he can lure away from White Hart Lane with chariman Daniel Levy likely to be looking to balance the books with some players sales this summer in view of their likely failure to secure a Champions League berth.

Liverpool’s owners will insist Rodgers looks to trim his squad in preparation for the arrival of new signings, not least so as to adhere to UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines.

With that in mind Rodgers is ready to listen to offers for a number of his first team squad with the likes of Iago Aspas, Fabio Borini, Oussama Assaidi, Tiago Illori, Pepe Reina and Sebastián Coates all set to be made available at the end of the season.
