£100m Man: Ten Players Who Could Become the First £100m Transfer

Ten players that could cost £100m if they were to be sold.

10. Neymar – Barcelona

Current value: £53m

The Brazilian megastar may have only joined the La Liga champions last summer, but he has already proved during that short time that he can adapt to European football with consummate ease as he continues to make an impression in Spain. It’s not likely that he’ll be on the move any time soon, but should he ever be made available then interested parties will have to pay considerably more given that his value will rise as he becomes more of a staple at the club.

9. Paul Pogba – Juventus

Current value: £39.5m

When the young Frenchman left Manchester United nobody expected that he would have proved to be the instant hit that he has in Serie A. A number of clubs in both England and Spain are rumoured to be keen to take him away from Turin this summer, and though his next move won’t garner £100m, the next one very well might if he continues his development at another of Europe’s elite.

8. Raheem Sterling – Liverpool

Current value: £11.5m

The young midfielder has been touted as a star from the beginning, and already, at just 19 years of age he is beginning to fulfil that potential as he helps Liverpool in their surprise quest for the Premier League title this season. Strongly believed to be heading to Brazil with the national team this summer, he will undoubtedly prove to be a huge asset in Brendan Rodgers’ plans and it will take an almighty offer to prize him away from Anfield.

7. Marco Reus – Borussia Dortmund

Current value: £35m

The Borussia Dortmund man is set to be the latest of the club’s stars to be harvested like so many before him, and in their desire to stop that from happening the club will look to slap an extortionate price tag on his head to ward off potential suitors. However, the players talent will probably drag his vacation over the £100m mark before too long anyway.

6. Adnan Januzaj – Manchester United

Current value: £5.3m

The 19-year-old has been one of the only bright sparks in an otherwise disastrous season for United and his development since his introduction into the first team at the beginning of the season has already been fast tracked. Still in his first season his valuation is relatively low, but as several international sides are already battling it out over his services club sides will be expected to follow, and should he progress the way many believe he will then a £100m transfer fee won’t be so far fetched.

5. Eden Hazard – Chelsea

Current value: £39.5m

The Belgian has stepped up a gear this season following on from a promising debut last term, and now several top European clubs are looking to take him away. As Chelsea prepare for an overhaul of sorts this summer Hazard’s future at the club has come into question. However, despite a possible move being on the cards, a return to France this summer probably won’t pass the 100 mark, though it could be his ticket to Spain, and that move will most likely be the big one.

4. Mario Gotze – Bayern Munich

Current value: £48.5m

It was obvious whilst at Dortmund that Gotze would move for big money, and now that he has translated his scintillating form to Bayern his value has only skyrocketed. He will certainly be at Bayern for a while before his next move (if he even moves at all) but the next one will push him up to the golden number.

3. Luis Suarez – Liverpool

Current value: £46m

Last summer, when Arsenal were interested in bringing him to the Emirates, the Uruguayan was deemed to be worth £50m. However, his form this season, coupled with Liverpool’s title challenge and a new contract will surely have pushed his valuation up to the £100m mark with ease. Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain are both said to be heavily interested this summer, and in truth they are the only two sides capable of paying the Merseysider’s what they desire for his services.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo – Real Madrid

Current value: £88m

Ronaldo is already worth close to £100m and if anyone was ambitious enough to make a move for him then they would be forced to go well above that sum to even be allowed to meet with the player’s representatives, let alone the player himself. However, at 29 his valuation won’t stay that high for much longer.

1. Lionel Messi – Barcelona

Current value: £105m

Already valued over £100m, the 26-year-old still has a few years yet to land the Catalan giants an astronomical fee should anyone be brave enough to move for him. Paris Saint Germain have already been linked with making a move for him this summer, and it would be interesting to see what number they come up with in order to put the wheels in motion.
