Since returning from being out with both knee and groin injuries in the post-Christmas period, the versatile full back has appeared to be a man refreshed, with his constant raids down the Reds’ flanks being a major feature now of the club’s attacking strategy.

CB: Daniel Agger

Another key component of the Reds back four who has also only recently returned from an injury layoff, and the Merseysiders have looked far more assured in defence with the experienced Denmark international now marshalling his fellow defenders.

What a brilliant season the shaven-headed Slovakia international is enjoying at present, at both ends of the pitch in fact, with the rugged centre back having netted a number of vital strikes for his team

The young England Under-21 international is flexible enough to operate on either side of the back four, with his willingness to cross the halfway line and support the Reds’ attacks being an important part of Rodgers’s tactical game plan of late, while he is also a rock-solid defender too.

The Reds and England skipper appears to have been handed a new lease of life since being shunted back into a new deep-lying role just in front of the back four by his manager, although the veteran will need to watch his step at Upton Park as a booking will see him miss the club’s key title decider with Manchester City at Anfield next weekend.

The England international has taken his game on to a new level since swapping Chelsea for Liverpool last January, so much so that the striker is now the second highest goalscorer in the Premier League behind team-mate Luis Suarez.

FW: Luis Suarez

Without doubt the best player in the Premier League so far in this campaign, and to think that the Uruguay attacker actually missed the first five league games of the season while he served the remainder of his 10-match ban for biting.
