5. Asmir Begovic – Stoke City

The Bosnian international has been linked with a move to the Emirates before, but he saw off a challenge from young England star Jack Butland to retain his number one status at the Britannia instead. However, he’s been in fine form again this time around and with Butland due back this summer the time may be right to leave the Potteries behind. Furthermore, with his first World Cup set to commence at the end of the season, Arsenal will get to see just how well he can perform on the biggest stage before making any moves for this experienced Premier League shot stopper.

4. Pepe Reina – Liverpool (on loan at Napoli)

The Spaniard saw his career hit the skids at Anfield and was promptly shipped out to Serie A to test himself and refund that form that had once made him so revered. And luckily, he found it! He has been a key component of their good run this season that has seen them keep up with Juventus and Roma at the top of the table as well as maintain their continued presence in Europe. He had been hoping to make a return to Barcelona this summer after admitting that he would not be turning out for Liverpool again, but thanks to their transfer ban that move won’t happen. Wenger could do a lot worse than a Spanish international that has been in the English top flight for seven years.

3. Tim Krul – Newcastle United

Upon Newcastle’s return to the top flight in 2010 there was a new face in between the sticks that was causing a stir with his impeccable timing and acrobatic shot stopping, and ever since then he has gone from strength to strength. In truth, with just five Dutch national team caps to his name he deserves a higher platform to show that he is worthy of many, many more. Newcastle have once again had a disappointing campaign, and nobody would blame the 25-year-old for wanting to move on this summer. However, Juventus are said to be interested in landing him this summer, so the Gunners had better get their skates on if they hope to bring him on board.

2. Marc-Andre Ter Stegan – Borussia Monchengladbach

The young international is believed to be the next great hope in the long line of talented goalkeepers to come out of Germany over the past ten years. Yet another player that had been thought to be on his way to Barcelona, but again, the transfer ban has put a stop to that. His agent claims that he will still leave the Bundesliga side this summer, and Wenger would be foolish not to at least make an enquiry as Ter Stegen could make his home between the sticks at the Emirates for the next 15 years.

1. Iker Casillas – Real Madrid

Casillas’ treatment at Madrid over the past 18 months has bordered on the insane as he is far too good to be relegated to the role of cup goalkeeper. Still in his prime, he decided to stay and fight for his place over the two most recent transfer windows, but having seen no change to his circumstances the time will be right this summer to leave the club he loves before the relationship really turns sour.
