Englishman had been expected to join either United or City next season.
Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as the new favourites to sign in-demand Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana next season, despite interest in the England international from a number of big-name Premier League clubs, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

As well as the north London club, it is also believed that the likes of both Premier League champions Manchester United and Manchester City have expressed an interest in landing Lallana when the summer transfer window does finally reopen again for business on July 1.
However, despite those two Premier League giants seemingly being in the market for the young Englishman, it is believed that is is Tottenham who are currently leading the race for Lallana, whose Three Lions colleagues Jay Rodriguez and Luke Shaw have also been attracting much attention in their services of late.
It is Lallana, though, who is understood to be most in demand after the 25-year-old’s eye-catching campaign for the south-cost club so far, with the playmaker having so far managed to register an impressive ten goals and nine assists in total in just his 40 matches in all competitions for both club and country.
