Chelsea Predicted Lineup v Paris Saint-Germain: Samuel Eto’o Set To Start

The Blues play host to the Ligue 1 champions on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge looking to overturn a 3-1 deficit from the first leg and make it through to the semi-finals of the Uefa Champions League.

GK: Petr Cech

The experienced Czech Republic international will be hoping for a far quieter evening than he endured in the first leg at the Parc des Princes when he was forced to pick the ball out of the net on three occasions, although for the Blues to stand any chance of progressing on Tuesday, then you feel that their shot stopper will need to keep a clean sheet against the Parisians.

RB: Branislav Ivanovic

While the Serbia international is not renowned for the attacking side of his game, the west London club will still be requiring the full back to bomb forward as often as he can in support of his more attacking team-mates if they are to get the goals they need to pull of the great escape.

CB: Gary Cahill

The England international did little wrong in the French capital last week, despite the west Londoners conceding three goals, while his aerial presence from set plays could also be important against the visitors at Stamford Bridge.

CB: John Terry

You feel that the captain will need to lead by example at both ends of the pitch against PSG, especially given that the home side cannot really afford to let in a goal against the French giants.

LB: Cesar Azpilicueta

Spain’s new left back has barely put a foot wrong all season long, despite being asked to play in an unfamiliar position on the left-hand side of the Blues’ back four in place of Ashley Cole.

CM: Frank Lampard

The veteran England international should get the nod to start in central midfield in the absence of both regular holding midfielders Ramires, who is suspended, and Nemanja Matic, who is cup tied.

CM: John Obi Mikel

Like Lampard, the experienced Nigeria international is also set to be a beneficiary of both Matic and Ramires’s absence in the key holding role in front of the west London club’s back four.

AM: Oscar

The impish Brazil international schemer will have a lot of responsibility on his shoulders against the Ligue 1 champions, with the playmaker set to start in his favoured position in the hole just off a lone front man as Chelsea go in search of the goals they need to pull off the great escape.

ST: Samuel Eto’o

The experienced Cameroon international had a late fitness test on Monday and is expected to have recovered in time from the hamstring injury that he picked up in the club’s 6-0 thrashing of Arsenal at Stamford Bridge last month in what will be a huge relief for the home team.

FW: Willian

Much of the creative responsibility will fall on the shoulders of the twinkle-toed Brazil international at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, with the diminutive attacker set to be stationed out on the right flank.

FW: Eden Hazard

You suspect that if Chelsea are to pull off mission impossible against PSG, then their main man will need to turn in a man-of-the-match display, but if anyone can, then the Belgium can.
