Exclusive: Ten Massive Deals We Think Will Happen This Summer

The ten biggest exclusive deals we think will go ahead.

10. Ignacio Camacho – Málaga to Arsenal

The Gunners are in desperate need of an out-and-out defensive midfielder next season, having failed to adequately replace Alex Song upon his departure to Barcelona two years ago. Where the club have been linked to bigger names than Camacho, Wenger is known for being economical with the club’s cash and may look for alternative options. The Spaniard may have had a stop-start career so far, but at 23 he still has room to develop under the Frenchman and could prove to be a shrewd acquisition.

9. Michael Carrick And Rio Ferdinand – Manchester United to West Ham

The two veteran stars have been earmarked to leave Old Trafford this summer as boss David Moyes prepares to undergo a radical transformation at the club following a disappointing season. It is very much a case of out with the old and in with the new, and the ageing pair have yet to be offered new deals, and news has filtered back to West Ham where the pair’s careers began. Sam Allardyce is hoping to bring them in to add some stability to the side after an up and down season of their own.

8. Leroy Fer – Norwich City to Liverpool

The Dutchman had been a target for the Reds last summer, but surprising opted to head to East Anglia instead with the view that he would get more regular first team action at Carrow Road. That may have been the case, but at what cost? Following a depressing season with the Canaries, that still may result in them going down, Fer could look to reconsider after Brendan Rodgers is still a known admirer of his. With more depth needed in the Anfield midfield a return for the international could well be in the offing as he would add quality at a cut down price.

7. Memphis Depay – PSV Eindhoven to Manchester United

The 20-year-old PSV star has really upped his game this season in terms of goals, both scored and created, and that has not gone unnoticed, especially in Manchester. With United keen to replace the majority of their under performers this summer, the Dutch international has been tipped to take over left wing duties from Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young. However, David Moyes will have to act fast because he is just one good World Cup away from missing out on what is a very prodigious talent.

6. Paulinho – Tottenham Hotspur to Liverpool

The Brazilian midfielder started the season very well indeed, but since Christmas his form has dipped dramatically alongside the rest of the squad’s. Already unsettled by all the changes that have been rung at White Heart Lane this term, Brendan Rodgers is said to be keen on taking the 25-year-old up north to maximise his potential in the English top flight.

5. Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria – Real Madrid to Arsenal

The Gunners have been long time admirers of the big French striker and have been linked with a move for him in the past two transfer windows, and upon hearing of Di Maria’s possible availability Arsene Wenger has been touted with making a £70m double raid. With money in the bank this summer, and a renewed desire to put in a huge effort next term the north London outfit could be looking at some monumental new acquisitions. However, Wenger is known to be somewhat of a skinflint and may not want to spend so much money in one go.

4. Edinson Cavani – PSG to Chelsea + £45m and David Luiz

The Uruguayan is known to be unhappy in the French capital and in recent weeks has actively encouraged a move to the Premier League. Chelsea have been linked as they are currently suffering through a lack of goals from their frontline. However, PSG are no mugs, and in the wake of Barcelona’s transfer ban want to take David Luiz away from Stamford Bridge and give him the first team opportunity he has been so craving over the past eight months. The £45m fee is just an indication of how much they still value Cavani despite preferring Ibrahimovic.

3. Marco Reus – Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United

The German international is just the latest in a long line of Dortmund talent that is likely to exit the club sooner rather than later as they fall further behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga pecking order. United are attempting to bring an entirely different calibre of player to the club this summer and have made the stylishly quiffed attacking midfielder one of their top priorities. However, Dortmund will still be able to offer Champions League football next term. United won’t.

2. Luis Suarez And Philippe Coutinho – Liverpool to Real Madrid

The Anfield pair have been in extraordinary form this season with the diminutive Brazilian taking to life in the Premier League better than anyone would have ever imagined. The La Liga giants have been keeping their eye on Suarez for the best part of a year already and are now also said to be weighing up a move for Coutinho too with a monumental £125m bid. Madrid may no longer be the richest team in the world anymore, but they are the most likely to spend the cash before anyone else can get their wallet out. But would Liverpool sell?

1. Jurgen Klopp – Borussia Dortmund to Arsenal

Just a few weeks ago Arsene Wenger was all set to put pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal at the Emirates, but a few bad results later and now there is apprehension on both sides, prompting speculation that he could finally be off this time. Klopp is the obvious choice to carry on the Frenchman’s good work and rumours that he felt he had taken the Bundesliga giants as far as they could go began to surface. However, Arsenal will need to pay a substantial fee to prize him away, and put together a package worthy enough to making Klopp walk away from the project he has been building for the past six years.
