Liverpool have been given a huge boost in their bid to win a first-ever Premier League title after vice-captain and key centre-back Daniel Agger returned to training on Wednesday after recovering from a knee injury ahead of Sunday afternoon’s showdown with Manchester City at Anfield, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The experienced Denmark international was forced to miss the Merseyside giants’ trip to take on West Ham United at Upton Park in the Premier League on the weekend after taking a blow on the knee in training last Saturday.
However, with the central defender having now returned to training, Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers faces a selectorial dilemma for the visit of City after Mamadou Sakho impressed in place of Agger in Liverpool’s 2-1 win against the Hammers.
“It was a nice introduction to some parts of English football for Sakho,” Rodgers told the Liverpool Echo/
“West Ham play a very direct game and Andy Carroll is as good as anyone in world football when the ball is played up to him.
“But he coped really well with it, having been out of the side for so long. I thought he and Martin Skrtel were very good.”
