Anfield Clear Out: Five Liverpool Stars Who Could Leave This Summer, Including Young Centre-Back

Three of last summer’s signings set for Anfield exits!

Liverpool have enjoyed a brilliant season, but still have a number of players of sub-standard quality. We expect the Reds to offload them as soon as they can this summer, to make room for exciting new arrivals…

Here’s the five we think will be shown the door:

5) Iago Aspas

Surely the Spaniard won’t stay at Anfield beyond one season? The £7m forward has barely had a sniff, and has failed to score a single Premier League goal all term. When he has been given minutes, he’s looked fairly woeful. We can’t imagine a situation where he isn’t either sold permanently to a Spanish club or at least sent on loan back to La Liga.

4) Victor Moses

Moses has not suitably impressed this term on loan from Chelsea, and there’s very little likelihood that Brendan Rodgers will been on making his transfer permanent. He’s only scored one Premier League goal this term, and he’s below the likes of Coutinho and Raheem Sterling in the pecking order. With the Reds set for Champions League football next term, they’ll need better backup than Moses.

3) Aly Cissokho

Cissokho will definitely leave the club when his loan deal expires. He’s technically terrible, and has become the butt of many Anfield jokes this term. Expect a new left-back to be signed, and Cissokho to fade into distant memory.

2) Tiago Ilori

Probably the strangest signing of last summer. Young Portuguese centre-back Ilori arrived for £7m, but wasn’t given a single minute of first-team football by Rodgers, before being sent on loan to Granada for the second half of the season. With Mamadou Sakho, Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel all vying for starting centre-back spots, Ilori is probably surplus to requirements. The Reds will do well to recoup even half what they spent on him.

1) Oussama Assaidi

Assaidi has spent this season on loan at Stoke, and hardly pulled up any trees. The Moroccan plays with his head down, and cannot link up suitably with the attacking players around him, and therefore doesn’t fit Rodgers’ smooth, fluent style. We’re pretty sure Liverpool will look to sell him permanently, and will likely accept even very low transfer offers.
