Potential Summer 2014 Transfer XI, With Superstar Arsenal & Manchester United Targets

Possible Liverpool and Chelsea signings also feature…

CaughtOffside is pretty sure that this summer will see a number of brilliant players from all over the world arrive in the Premier League. Manchester United have serious squad rebuilding to do, Arsenal fans are crying out for reinforcements, Liverpool need to build a squad ready for the Champions League, and Chelsea are crying out for a new superstar striker.

Here’s an XI made up from the brilliant players that could be bound for English shores when the transfer window opens…

GK) Iker Casillas – Real Madrid – Interested: Arsenal (Daily Mail)

One of the most decorated players in recent history, and arguably the outstanding goalkeeper of his generation, Casillas has actually not been a regular La Liga starter for Real Madrd for around 18 months now. Arsenal have Wojciech Szczesny as no.1, but surely wouldn’t turn down an opportunity to bring in the Spanish legend if he demanded a move away from the Bernabeu.

DR) Serge Aurier – Toulouse – Interested: Arsenal, Newcastle & Chelsea (Daily Star)

The young Ivorian right-back is excelling in Ligue 1 this term, and has expressed a desire to join Arsenal at some stage in his career. He’s physically outstanding, and is equally adept in central defence.

DC) Eiliaquim Mangala – Porto – Interested: Manchester United & Manchester City (Daily Star)

The young Frenchman nearly joined City back in January, but United could rival their rivals for his signature in the summer!

DC) Matthias Ginter – Freiburg – Interested: Arsenal & Manchester United (Mirror)

There were reports that Ginter was close to sealing a deal with Borussia Dortmund, but these have since been denied by the German starlet’s parent club. The 20-year-old is quick, and composed with the ball at his feet.

DL) Alex Sandro – Porto – Interested: Manchester United (Mirror)

Patrice Evra’s contract is expiring in the summer, and Alex Sandro could come in from Portugal to replace him. Liverpool similarly need left-back reinforcements though, and could also make a move for the Brazilian.

MC) William Carvalho – Sporting Lisbon – Interested: Manchester United (Metro)

Various reports  are already claiming United have finalised a £37m deal for the highly impressive Portuguese 21-year-old.  Carvalho is strong, loves to drive through the midfield, and has an eye for goal as well. Real Madrid are also paying attention to his current vein of form, however.

MC) Toni Kroos – Bayern Munich – Interested: Manchester United (The Guardian)

The German midfielder is likely to sign a new contract with the Champions League favourites, but is probably United’s no.1 summer transfer target. If they make an astronomical offer for his services, They could pull off one of the most expensive deals in Premier League history.

AMR) Yevhen Konoplyanka – Dnipro – Interested: Liverpool & Tottenham (Sky Sports

The Ukrainian winger nearly joined table toppers Liverpool back in January, but now they will have to battle Spurs for his signature come the summer. He can play on either flank, and has a powerful right foot shot.

AML) Julian Draxler – Schalke – Interested: Arsenal (The Metro)

Schalke will no doubt make it very hard for the Gunners to secure their prized asset, but if Arsene Wenger sanctions a £37m deal (which could meet his release clause) there’s little his Bundesliga club could do to stop him moving.

FC) Edinson Cavani – PSG – Interested: Manchester United (Daily Star)

The Uruguayan has been linked with a mammoth £50m plus Nani swap deal. Cavani wants to play as a centre-forward, but with Zlatan Ibrahimovic occupying the role at Paris, Cavani may jump at the chance to move to the Premier League.

FC) Diego Costa – Atletico Madrid – Interested: Chelsea (Metro)

The Brazilian born Spanish international forward has emerged as the striker Jose Mourinho is targeting most heavily. He’s extraordinarily powerful, and has only been outscored by Cristiano Ronaldo this season in La Liga. He could cost up to £50m though.
