Liverpool Transfer News: Five In And Five Out At Anfield This Summer With Real Madrid Duo On The Radar

The players likely to leave and those to be bought in.

After beating Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, Liverpool’s title hopes have been given a significant boost as they look to be crowned English champions for the first time since 1990.

Whatever happens now manager Brendan Rodgers is certain to guide the five-time European champions back to the Champions League for the first time since 2009 and therefore they can attract plenty of new talent in the summer.

With a relatively small squad available to the Northern Irishman currently, here are five players we expect to be bought and five to be sold at the end of the season.

Out

Iago Aspas

As good as Rodgers has been as a coach, the 41-year-old’s dealings in the transfer market leaves much to be desired – bar Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge – and the £7m acquisition of Aspas from Celta Vigo last summer has not be a success.

The Spaniard looks lost in English football and is certainly not good enough for the Merseysiders, with just one goal in 14 appearances since the striker’s move.

Aspas is not happy at the club either and is likely to be looking for a move back to La Liga, which Rodgers is unlikely to block.

Aly Cissokho

The left-back arrived on-loan from Valencia last year with a view to a permanent deal and when Jose Enrqiue suffered sustained injuries the Frenchman must have sensed his chance.

Yet Cissokho has been poor on the left side of the back four – particularly defensively – and there’s no way the 26-year-old will be acquired permanently.

All of this has opened up a space for Jon Flanagan, who despite being heavily criticised by his own fans at the start of the campaign is now a real favourite at the club.

Sebastian Coates

This centre-back was once billed to have a big future on Merseyside, but now looks set to be offloaded – particularly with the abundance of talent the club now has in the Uruguayan’s position.

Now 23-years-old Coates can no longer be named as a promising youngster and would be behind Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Mamadou Sakho and even Kolo Toure for a place in the starting XI.

The defender is currently back in his native Uruguay with Nacional and could be looking to make that deal permanent.

Oussama Assaidi

Another who is currently away from the club and may not return is this winger, who has had an average term in Stoke City and will have failed to impress Rodgers.

The winger is now 25-years-old and although plays in a position that Liverpool are currently lacking, is not good enough for their European hopes.

Stoke may be convinced to take Assaidi on themselves, although are set to face competition from a number of Italian clubs.

Victor Moses

This Chelsea man is someone else who has had a disappointing time on-loan with the Reds whilst success has been going on around him.

After having limited opportunities at Stamford Bridge the Nigeria international was pleased to escape west London, but has received similar treatment on Merseyside.

The 23-year-old has started just nine matches in all competitions in 2013/14 and like Cissokho will not be signed permanently.

Isco

This Real Madrid youngster possesses the versatility in attacking midfield that could be just the thing Liverpool need to take them to the next level.

The 21-year-old made the £23m switch to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu last year from Malaga, despite interest from Manchester City, and has made a solid start to life in the capital.

Yet due to the presence of world record signing Gareth Bale and the rise of Jese Rodriguez, Isco is finding first team opportunities hard to come by and Liverpool want to capitalise.

Hakan Calhanoglu

Many English fans could be forgiven for not having heard of this Hamburger SV youngster, but in Germany the 20-year-old is being billed as the next Mesut Ozil.

Like Ozil the Turkey international plays primarily as a No.10, although can also operate on the left flank and in a deeper midfield role.

With 10 goals in 28 matches in the Bundesliga the playmaker also has an eye for the net and could give the much needed respite to the pressure put on the current players at Anfield.

Marcelo

With Enrique suffering with constant injuries and Cissokho heading back to Valencia, the Reds will be looking to sign a new left-back in the summer.

Although there have been links with Chelsea veteran Ashley Cole and Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno, it could be back to Los Blancos for this one.

In Marcelo there is a readymade international with bags of top flight experience, who may find his own opportunities at the Bernabeu limited by the expected arrival of Moreno.

Rodrigo

Despite the brilliant form of Luis Suarez and Sturridge this term, beyond the duo Liverpool lack any decent support in attack and Benfica’s Rodrigo could be the ideal signing.

The Spaniard has been in fine form for the Portuguese club this campaign, scoring 16 goals in 34 matches in all competitions and is also versatile up top.

The 23-year-old can play in a deeper No.10 role and on the right flank, as well as his preferred position as a striker.

Xherdan Shaqiri

One area of the pitch where Liverpool need support desperately is on the wing, with youngster Raheem Sterling the only available option out wide currently.

Whilst the 19-year-old has been impressive, the side can’t solely rely on the England international and could do a lot worse than Bayern Munich’s Shaqiri.

Due to the impressive squad the German champions have at their disposal, the Swiss star is struggling for game time at the Allianz Arena and could be available for a reasonable fee.
