The Stamford Bridge side have seen the likes of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o fail to make a consistent enough impact in front of goal and that lack of a cutting edge threatens to derail the west London club’s push for Premier and Champions League triumphs.

Edinson Cavani £55m

The Uruguayan is apparently unhappy and unsettled at the Parc des Princes and could well be ready to force a move away from the Ligue 1 side.

Seeing his fellow countryman Luis Suarez achieving greatness in the English top tier could well further motivate the former Napoli man to pursue a Premier League switch.

Cavani has a proven pedigree, 104 goals in three seasons at Napoli have been followed by a laudable total of 22 goals in all competitions this season.

The powerful forward has the physique for life in the rough and tumble confines of the Premier League also.

Ezequiel Lavezzi £25m

The Argentine attacker can play out side and at up front and is also said to be keen on leaving PSG and could work out far cheaper then his team-mate.

His current wage of £80k can be easily outdone by Chelsea and his adaptability may also suit Mourinho.

Lavezzi was a big hit in Naples but hasn’t been a consistent success with PSG, scoring 22 goals in 78 appearances though in his defence the 28 year old is more than just a goal-scorer.

Diego Costa £32m

The Brazilian born Spanish international has a very affordable release clause of £32m and Jose Mourinho may well not be the only manager looking to trigger it.

26 goals in La Liga alone have made the 25 year old a much sought after commodity that Atletico Madrid will struggle to keep hold of this summer.

Any move for Costa would be best made prior to the 2014 World Cup finals when interest in the big forward is likely to peak which could in turn lead to a bidding war.

Mario Mandzukic £25m

The 27 year old former Wolfsburg man has been in fine form since moving to the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2012 but the imminent arrival of Robert Lewandowsi from Borussia Dortmund is sure to impact on his role in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven.

Mandzukic netted 22 goals in his debut season at Bayern Munich and already has 24 goals to his name in all competitions this term.

Of the four named targets the Croatian is perhaps the most likely to make a summer move.
