Ten First Team Players Set for Man United Exit as Old Trafford Side Look to Conduct Summer Clear-Out

David Moyes set to conduct major Old Trafford squad re-shuffle.

Man United are set for a busy summer as under-fire boss David Moyes looks set to ring the changes with as many as ten of his first team squad set for Old Trafford exits.

Without a Champions League berth to act as bait the Man United manager will struggle to land top targets but will apparently be handed a transfer war-chest of as much as £200m though clearly in order to spend such sums the Scottish manager will be keen to make room for those additions whilst also playing close attention to UEFA’s FFP (Financial Fair Play) guidelines.

Here are the ten players sourced by the Daily Mail as apparently playing for their Man United futures.

Ashley Young

Winger has proven very ineffective this term and was publicly criticised by David Moyes in relation to his diving antics.

The 28 year old has scored just three goals in 28 appearances this term and the arrival of Juan Mata and the emergence of Adnan Januzaj will no doubt see Moyes ready to cash-in on the former Aston Villa man.

Having arrived at Old Trafford from Villa Park back in June 2011 it’s fair to say the England man has never made a consistent enough impact at the club and is certainly not delivering the goods in the final third.

Patrice Evra

Left-back is also set to see his contract expire in a matter of months and this source claims Moyes will allow the former AS Monaco man leave in the summer.

It’s likely a move back to his native France would interest Evra and indeed a move back to the Stade Louis II would be all the more tempting if Claudio Ranieri secures a Champions League berth for next season.

Nemanja Vidic

Serbian international’s contract was due to expire this summer anyway and the experienced centre-back has now already agreed a deal to move to Inter Milan.

The 32 year old has at times in his Old Trafford pomp been considered one of the best in the business but the former Spartak Moscow man has struggled with injury for a number of years, restricting his involvement in first team matters.

Rio Ferdinand

The 35 year old centre-back is likely to call time on his playing career this summer and hasn’t been involved all that much in first team affairs this season.

His display against Man City last month was perhaps all the evidence needed to illustrate that Ferdinand is no longer able to put in convincing displays at the highest level.

Ryan Giggs

In marked contrast the Welsh veteran put in a magical display against Olympiakos in the club’s 3-0 second leg success and it’s perhaps surprising that this source believes that he will hang up his boots at the end of the season.

There has been some speculation, though denied, that the 40 year old had fallen out with David Moyes though perhaps a move from playing to a full-time coaching role is on the cards for the Man United legend.

Anderson

Moyes will seek to permanently offload loaned out Brazilian Anderson this summer.

Anderson has struggled with his weight, with his fitness and a general lack of effective displays for the Man United first team before he was sent to Fiorentina.

The big money signing will hope to impress the Serie A side sufficiently to secure a permanent move but either way the move appears to be designed to act as a shop window for the 25 year old who cost Man United £20m back in 2007.

Alexander Buttner

All the talk of a likely Patrice Evra exit should have left some speculation open to the possibility of the Dutchman filling the likely void left by the French veteran, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.

David Moyes has been actively pursuing Everton’s Leighton Baines and Southampton youngster Luke Shaw and despite his recent appearances Buttner seems destined to be heading for the Old Trafford exit.

Has been used during Patrice Evra’s recent suspension absence.

Nani

Another player who appears to be surplus to requirements and a winger who has been on the peripheries at Man United for a number of years. The Portuguese international’s career is stuttering to say the least and a move away from the Premier League side this summer seems certain.

On his day Nani can still mix it with the best but a lack of consistency has left him nothing more than a bit-part player for Moyes to cash-in on. Juventus are said to be keen on the 27 year old.

Shinji Kagawa

Japanese international has seen a bit more action of late but is still very much a back-up performer and is often used out of position by overly conservative boss David Moyes.

There has been ongoing talk of a possible return to Borussia Dortmund and if that is the case then Man United will be looking to secure a big fee for the 25 year old.

Tom Cleverley

Very much the scapegoat this term the level of abuse the England midfielder has suffered has perhaps been overblown but there’s no denying his lack of effectiveness this term.

David Moyes backed the 24 year old for much of the season but has been using him less and less as the campaign has worn on, time to sell, especially if reports of Everton’s interest are to be believed.
