1) Ryan Giggs

The Welshman has long been regarded as being the next United manager in waiting and with the veteran wide man having now completed his Uefa coaching badges, whilst also seemingly falling out with Moyes at the same time, do not be at all surprised to see Giggs be named as the Scot’s successor.

2) Steve McClaren

A surprise contender, however, the former England head coach is still very highly regarded by those in charge at the Theatre of Dreams, while the work that he is also doing at Derby County has not gone unnoticed either by United, although it would still represent something of a major surprise were he to be given the role.

3) Carlo Ancelotti

The Italian is said to be under pressure at Real Madrid to win either La Liga or the Uefa Champions League this season, with there being some suggestions in the Spanish press that the experienced trainer will be given the sack were he not to, and if that were the case, then United are known to be keen on luring the Italian to the north west to replace Moyes this summer.

4) Louis van Gaal

Another hugely experienced manager, and one who will be on the market come the end of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, with the Dutchman just the sort of character that the Red Devils hierarchy are on the look out for at present.

5) Diego Simeone

Currently Europe’s most highly rated and in-demand young coach, and if the Argentinian goes on to win both La Liga and the Champions League this season, then expect United to come knocking on his door.

6) Jose Mourinho

The United board were understood to be split about who they wanted to replace Sir Alex Ferguson last summer, with many said to be keen on hiring the self-styled Special One, so expected the champions to revisit that possibility again when Moyes leaves the club this summer.

7) Brendan Rodgers

If the young Northern Irishman does go on to guide Liverpool to a remarkable and highly unlikely Premier League triumph this season, then his star really will be shining, meaning that Rodgers’s name will also therefore be on any potential managerial short list that United draw up to replace Moyes.

8) Antonio Conte

The Juventus head coach is on the verge of leading the Old Lady of Italian Football to a third straight Serie A title, which is quite some achievement, especially given the Italian’s tender years, with United known to be impressed with the job that Conte has performed in Turin.

9) Frank de Boer

The young Ajax boss has just steered the Eredivisie giants to yet another league title and is currently one of the most sought-after young trainers currently plying his trade on the Continent, with the Dutchman’s name have previously been mentioned in conjunction with the United job.

10) Sir Alex Ferguson

Despite the former United boss having insisted that he will not come out of retirement to return to club management, you can bet your bottom dollar that were Moyes to be relieved of his duties at Old Trafford, then Fergie will immediately be installed as one of the favourites to replace the Scot.
