Chelsea Star Closing in on Deal to Sign for Real Madrid

Cole’s representative Jonathan Barnett is in the Spanish capital drawing up terms on a two year deal set to earn the England left-back around €4m a year.

The 33 year old has been frozen out of Jose Mourinho’s first team set-up since the turn of the year and with the former Arsenal man’s Stamford Bridge contract set to expire in the summer it’s no surprise that he would be looking for a new club.

Ancelotti is keen to land Cole and one wonders what that would mean for the likes of Marcelo and Fabio Coentrao, who currently vie for the left-back role at the La Liga side.

Ashley Cole moved to the west London club following a contentious exit from local rivals Arsenal back in the summer of 2006 but the full-back hasn’t started a Premier League match since January with Mourinho opting to use Cesar Azpilicueta in his stead.
