Marc Wilmots has announced on Twitter that Manchester United attacking midfielder Adnan Januzaj has committed his international future to Belgium.
The 19 year-old proved an inspirational figure for David Moyes’ side in the early part of the Scot’s reign at Old Trafford, but – perhaps unsurprisingly, given his youth – appears to have suffered from fatigue in recent weeks, and Shinji Kagawa claimed his place on the left side of the attacking midfield.
Still, Januzaj’s clear promise resulted in huge speculation over his international future, with Belgium, Albania, Kosovo, England, Turkey, Croatia and Serbia all thought to be eager for him to represent their nations.
However, Belgian coach Wilmots says Januzaj has committed to his country, meaning that he could still feature for the Red Devils – Belgium’s nickname as well as Manchester United’s – at this summer’s 2014 FIFA World Cup.
