Liverpool Target Six In £70m Spending Spree as Brendan Rodgers Plans for Champions League Assault

Anfield side ready to spend big this summer.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set to be handed a massive £70m transfer war-chest as the Anfield side prepare for a return to the Champions League.

The Merseyside club will look to strengthen their squad and address potential ‘problem areas’ with Rodgers earmarking moves for seven top quality signings according to the Daily Mirror.

Rodgers should be able to tempt the top notch additions to join his high-flying Premier League table topping side and as such has targeted players of highest quality.

Yevhen Konoplyanka (Dnipro)

The 24-year-old Ukrainian came close to joining the club in January and has also been courted by Tottenham but a move to Liverpool seems distinctly likely this summer.

The goal-scoring winger may be seen by Rodgers as the ideal addition to boost his options in the final third and could be used as a third prong in an attack alongside Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (Borussia Dortmund)

Brendan Rodgers attempted to land the Armenian last summer but the Shakhtar Donetsk man opted instead to move to the Westfalenstadion where he has impressed this term.

Jurgen Klopp may struggle to keep hold of his top talents with Robert Lewandowski having already agreed to reunite with former team-mate Mario Gotze at Bayern Munich but it would be something of a surprise if Mkhitaryan were to leave the Bundesliga side after just one campaign.

Marcos Rojo (Sporting Lisbon)

The Argentine international centre-back could offer Rodgers with more top quality options at the back, which given the up and down form shown by the likes of Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger and Kolo Toure is certainly an area of weakness that needs addressing.

Rojo has helped Sporting Lisbon mount a spirited Primeira Liga challenge this term though the Portuguese side do have well documented financial issues that may force them to sell.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos (Schalke)

Another rock solid defender and one who has perhaps more top level experienced than Rojo.

The Greek international, though just 22, is into his fourth season in the Schalke first team set-up following his emergence at Olympiakos, the defender does however have injury concerns having spent a fair bit of time sidelined in recent seasons.

Will Hughes (Derby)

One of the hottest prospects in English football and a player who has been considered as a long term replacement for Steven Gerrard.

The chances of landing the England Under 21 international this summer will increase dramatically if the Rams fail to gain promotion to the Premier League.

The 19 year old has already amassed 80 appearances for Derby County.

Tom Ince (Blackpool)

A player Liverpool know well, the loaned out Tangerines man having spent a period at Anfield prior to moving to Bloomfield Road.

Ince has impressed during his loan spell at Crystal Palace and is out of contract in the summer and could be tempted by a move back to a side managed by Rodgers, who is well known for his willingness to trust to youth.
